M.Sc., Project Leader CMIO Research Team at University Hospital Basel Innovation Management

Joanna Timiliotis has a Master in Psychology with a focus on Human-Machine Interaction and Cognitive Decision Sciences and recently started a PhD in Cognitive Neurosciences.

She will speak about how a Virtual Reality solution (called Virtual Basel) helps patients ease stress and thus potential depression in the context of upcoming and recent operations.

Thomas Berger

Prof. Dr. phil. Thomas Berger

Head of the Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy at University of Berne

Over the past 20 years, Thomas Berger has developed and evaluated internet- based therapies to prevent and treat psychological problems and disorders, e.g., by using digital aids such as online tools and apps. He is a psychologist and psychotherapist and a leading exponent of psychotherapy research. In 2021, he received the Marcel Benoist Swiss Science Prize for his research on internet-based psychotherapies.

Sabina Sperisen

Sabina Sperisen

CEO Lichtsteiner Foundation

Sabina Sperisen is CEO of the Lichtsteiner Foundation, which invests in early-stage startups, focusing on health innovations; was in leading positions at Art Basel and the Lucerne Festival. With a background in psychology, public health, and cultural management, she enjoys working on new business strategies, loves new challenges and disruptive inventions, likes empowering people, enabling and transforming, she is a good networker, open-minded and follows her intuition.

Michael Rieger

Michael Rieger

Head of Strategy and Corporate Services CSS

Michael Rieger graduated with a Master's degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor's degree in Business Informatics. He joined CSS in 2012 and became Head of the Strategy and Corporate Services division in 2022. He previously worked in various innovation and transformation roles and was head of the former CSS subsidiary Sanagate for three years.
